WATER COLOURS - 6x26' or 3x52' - SERIES SYNOPSIS

Why are fish such incredible colours? We’ve never truly understood, because we’ve always looked through human eyes…  At the very forefront of marine science, ‘WATER COLOURS’ is an epic exploration of underwater colour, seen for the first time ever, through the fishes eyes.

Marine animals manipulate colours, to transform the way they look. Switching colours and pattern to express emotion and mood, they alter position and behaviour, depending what they want to say. Not only changing colour entirely themselves, some have an inconceivable ability to change colour, itself!. The marine world is a paradoxical, dazzling display. But these cryptic displays weren’t designed for human eyes….

In a sensational quest for understanding, ‘Water Colours’ investigates fish vision, to decipher how fish see colours and each other, in their world, through their eyes. Discover a world of illusion, where eyes superior to human eyes see colours we can’t see. Encounter enigmatic animals, with vision beyond anything we can perceive. From secret wavelengths and eye metamorphosis to polarization and UV, how fish see and what they see brings the overwhelming revelation that in their world, we’re blind.

Joining forces with leading Scientists, colourful patterns are analyzed, vivid displays deciphered and complex behaviour understood. In an exclusive world premiere, illusive messages are interpreted, bringing the revolutionary discovery that colour is the cryptic language of the fish.

Inspirational, provocative and stimulating, ‘Water Colours’ is a pioneering breakthrough in underwater communication and a landmark step towards understanding. Featuring spellbinding behaviour, spectacular cinematography and images entirely new to science, the films transport us back to premier ocean discovery, forever changing our relationship with it’s creatures. Filmed in the colourful Pacific islands and Australia’s outer reefs, an emotive score and backdrop of paradise heighten this mesmerizing masterpiece, which reveals the fishes most profound secrets and surpasses all thought and understanding yet.

The fish are talking, in a language of colour. If we open our eyes, we can hear what they say.
